Determination of the Response Amplitude Operator of a tidal turbine as a spectral transfer function

A transfer function determination method is proposed in this study to predict the unsteady fluctuations of performance a tidal turbine model. This derived from Response Amplitude Operator (RAO) applied offshore industry linear wave-induced loads on large structures. It based spectral approach and requires acquisition parameter (e.g. torque, thrust, power or root-blade force) synchronization with an upstream flow velocity measurement. On frequency range where causality between these two signals proven, established using ratio cross-spectral density incoming velocity.The linearity verified coherence function, which shows validity for lowest frequencies only. then used reconstruct compared recorded one particular condition bathymetry generated turbulence. The result dependence accurate location measurement point reconstruction. must exactly correspond expected location, i.e. response needs be processed.
